My best ideas start with some kind of pad or tonal sound like the one you hear in the beginning of this video. The novation peak is playing an arp in chord mode and the sub 37 is playing a rather funky sequence (unusual for my style as I mostly stick to the root note). Decided to put all my gear on a stand. Happy I made the choice as this allows me to use most of my hardware simultaneously. It’s nice to have things hooked up, ready to record and jam. Still is a work in progress and I have a lot to learn but it’s a step in the right direction.

First studio jam after a long break from music — just a small positive moment in the studio with my mom. Note to self: In today’s world, there’s so much pressure to stay consistent, to keep producing, to never stop practicing. But I honestly think that mindset often comes from fear — and it’s a fast road to burnout. Music is not just output. It’s life force. It’s energy. It needs space to flow. I’ve had to learn this the hard way. Even while caregiving, managing responsibilities, and feeling my entire body, mind, and soul asking for rest — my inner voice still says: “Come on. You should be making music. This is your job. No excuses.” But here’s the thing: Being a musician isn’t just a job. It’s deeply tied to who you are - your purpose. So here’s a gentle reminder: Inspiration also comes from life — the ordinary, the chaotic, the quiet. Not just from staring at a screen with pressure of having to make money from it. Let yourself rest. Let your nervous system breathe. Drop the expectations and the music will eventually feel more invited to you. You’ll be surprised — you haven’t “lost it.” In fact, you might have gotten even better. Take as much time as you need. And when you do return to music — play, explore, and allow yourself to be free. Doing something truly for yourself is what will resonate with others on a more authentic and soulful level.

Here's a quick jam created using sounds from my "Roya" pack @lotustunesacademy. Simply launching a few clips in Ableton Live like the vocal and ambient swells. Using the Faderfox PC4 to add the bass in and Highpass the entire track for some tension.

In this clip, I use modulation to turn a simple groove into something full and dynamic. A basic kick, hi-hat, clap, a four-note arpeggio, and one static chord serve as the foundation. By modulating specific parameters within effects plugins (like portal), the sound gains depth, movement, and creates tension. The focus is on simplicity: knowing which parameters to tweak and mapping them effectively within the DAW. The input remains minimal, but the modulation creates the interest.
